THE PROBLEM

Adapting the B2B model during the COVID-19 pandemic 

The initial need for k-Beauty Connect was spurred by KOECO, the Korean Exhibition Company. KOECO has two decades of experience as the organizer of Korean pavilions at international beauty exhibitions across the US, Europe, China, South-East Asia, and the Middle East. As for so many others, COVID-19 took away KOECO’s ability to serve its customers.1


COVID-19 has changed how B2B buyers and sellers interact. During normal circumstances, international buyers and sellers would attend international exhibitions in order to meet new business partners. Although B2B trade has been changing for a longer period of time, COVID-19 has accelerated the need to transition from an offline to an online approach to meeting new partners. International beauty exhibitions are no longer a viable solution for meeting international partners, and both buyers and sellers are desperately looking for online alternatives.  1

From the search interface, which includes filters customised to the platforms requirements, buyers are able to save their past searches to their dashboard, allowing them to be notified of any new exhibitors or products that become available meeting their matching requirements.  This is a benefit to buyers as they can effortlessly keep on top of new products and trends, and sellers products will automatically be marketed to buyers within their specific niche.  Buyers are also able to favourite their preferred sellers in order to be notified of any new products they launch.

The platform also includes a customised search interface allowing curated exhibitors to be displayed according to a specific monthly online exhibition theme.
